To celebrate Israel’s 80th birthday in 2028, Green Bean Books will be publishing 80s postcards illustrated by 80 children’s book illustrators from Israel. There are so many brilliant, incredibly-talented Israeli illustrators and their work deserves to be better-known and celebrated!
80 published children’s book illustrators will each provide artwork for a postcard following the theme of ‘People of the Book. The resultant postcards will be printed and sold in gift boxes, which provide biographical information about each illustrator and their approach to the challenge.
Jewish community centres and galleries around the world will also display the collected work through the use of a travelling exhibition: Green Bean will deliver eight pull-up banners that each display the work of ten illustrators.
We are tremendously proud that the project is being supported by Israeli President Isaac Herzog and we expect Beit HaNassi in Jerusalem to host a launch event in 2028. The anniversary of Israel is still a long way off, but the project is already underway! Four Israeli illustrators have submitted postcard designs, which you can see here.
